Bear Trap guide
Build Bear Trap squads for your account, not somebody else’s screenshot.
Bear Trap advice gets passed around as ratios, hero names and screenshots. Those can help, but they make a lot more sense once you understand what you are actually trying to build. Start with the basics here, then use the deeper Bear guides when you are ready to optimize a specific part of your setup.
Quick answer
Start with 10% Infantry / 10% Lancers / 80% Marksmen.
10/10/80 is the standard Bear Trap starting point. Bear formations are generally Marksman-heavy because the goal is damage. But 10/10/80 is a baseline, not a permanent rule. Your troop inventory, deployment capacity, number of marches and the job of each march can all change what makes sense for your account.
Go deeper on Bear Trap ratios →Why Bear Trap is Marksman-heavy
Bear Trap is not a normal PvP fight, so the balanced formations you use against another player are not automatically the formations you want here. Bear planning generally puts the largest share of the march into Marksmen and uses Infantry and Lancers in smaller amounts. That is the logic behind the familiar 10/10/80 starting ratio.
Know your job: calling or joining
Calling a Bear rally and joining someone else’s rally are different jobs. A caller is building around their own rally, hero lineup, stats, capacity and account strength. A joiner is contributing troops and a lead-hero skill to another player’s rally. The same general Bear principles can apply to both, but you should not assume the exact same setup is right for both roles.

Do not pick your lead joiner hero just because that hero has the highest power. When you are choosing the hero in the first slot of a joining march, pay attention to the hero’s top-right Expedition skill. That skill—and whether it actually supports the formation you are sending—is what you need to understand.
We keep the hero names, skill details, special cases and formation-specific choices out of this basic guide so it stays easy to use.
Learn how to choose Bear Trap joiner heroes →Plan all of your marches, not just the first one
A perfect-looking first march can be a bad overall plan if it strips the Marksmen you need for marches two through six. Before you keep copying 10/10/80, look at your total troop inventory and the number of marches you actually expect to send. The goal is not one pretty formation—it is a useful Bear setup across the whole event.
This is also where an account can outgrow a strict percentage. As deployment capacity and troop inventory change, the best way to distribute your troops can change with them.
Go deeper on building Bear formations →Why is my Bear damage lower than expected?
Your total power is not your Bear damage. Two accounts that look similar on the surface can produce very different results because Bear performance is affected by multiple parts of the account working together. Formation, heroes, skills, troop stats, research, gear, charms, pets, buffs and rally conditions can all be part of the picture.
That question gets deep fast, so this guide is not going to bury you in every variable.

Rebuild the plan as your account grows
Your Bear setup should not be frozen in time. More troops, higher deployment capacity, another march, new heroes, troop promotions and meaningful account upgrades can all change what you can field. Keep the basic principles, but revisit the actual squads as the account changes.
Quick answers
Bear Trap FAQ
What is the best Bear Trap troop ratio?
10% Infantry, 10% Lancers and 80% Marksmen is the standard starting point for Bear Trap rallies. Treat 10/10/80 as a baseline rather than a permanent rule because deployment capacity, troop inventory and the number of marches you send can change the best usable formation.
Why is Bear Trap usually Marksman-heavy?
Bear Trap is built around dealing damage, which is why Bear formations generally put most of their available march capacity into Marksmen. Infantry and Lancers still have a place, but a balanced PvP formation is not the usual starting point for Bear.
Which hero should lead when I join a Bear Trap rally?
Do not choose a joiner lead by hero power alone. Pay attention to the hero's top-right Expedition skill and whether that skill supports the formation you are sending. The dedicated Bear joiner hero guide explains the hero-specific choices in more detail.
Why does my first Bear march look good while later marches get worse?
The first marches can consume too many of your available Marksmen. Plan the troop pool across every march you expect to send so later squads do not become leftovers after the strongest marches are built.
Why is my Bear Trap damage lower than another player's?
Total account power does not explain Bear damage by itself. Formation, heroes, skills, troop stats, research, gear, charms, pets, buffs, rally setup and other account variables can all affect results. Use the dedicated Bear damage guide when you are ready to troubleshoot those variables individually.
