Furnace progression is not only the cost shown on the next button. Your target can depend on supporting building requirements, Fire Crystals, ordinary resources, construction time, and enough speedups to finish the route you actually care about.
Start with the destination, not the next button
A next-upgrade cost tells you what one step requires. It does not tell you what it takes to reach the Furnace or Fire Crystal level that matters to your account. Pick the destination first so every prerequisite and resource demand can be evaluated against the same goal.
A target level can hide prerequisite work
Furnace progression can depend on supporting buildings. Checking the entire route before spending prevents a requirement from becoming an unexpected stop after Fire Crystals, resources, or speedups are already committed elsewhere.
Fire Crystals are only one part of the shortage
It is easy to focus on crystals because they are the most visible late-game gate, but ordinary resources can still be the actual blocker. Good planning subtracts what is already on hand from every required resource and identifies the shortage that remains.
Construction time belongs in the same plan
A route can be fully funded and still miss the timing window you care about. Compare total construction time with your available construction speedups and the date of the event or milestone you are targeting. Resource-ready and time-ready are different states.
Do not spend a prerequisite into a different bottleneck
Supporting buildings can be valuable on their own, but upgrading them blindly can leave the Furnace route short on the resources or speedups needed to finish. Treat prerequisite buildings as part of one connected project instead of unrelated upgrade decisions.
Event timing can change when “ready” really means ready
Being able to upgrade today does not automatically make today the best time to do it. If construction or power-growth spending has more value during a nearby event, the stronger plan may be to prepare the full route, preserve the materials, and execute when the account gets more value from the same spend.
Recalculate after every meaningful spend
One major building upgrade can change crystal inventory, ordinary resources, prerequisite status, and speedup reserves at the same time. Keep the current state accurate so the next recommendation reflects the account you have now rather than the account you had before the last upgrade.

What to check before committing Fire Crystals
Should I plan one Furnace level or the whole route?
Plan to the destination you actually care about. A single visible upgrade can hide supporting-building requirements, additional Fire Crystal stages, resource shortages, or construction time that only becomes obvious after you have already committed materials.
Are Fire Crystals the only bottleneck after Furnace 30?
No. Ordinary resources, prerequisite buildings, construction time, speedups, and later-stage crystal requirements can all block progression. The limiting resource is whichever requirement you cannot cover when you need it.
Is it always best to upgrade as soon as I can afford it?
Not always. If an event, another building requirement, or a more valuable account goal is close, preserving resources can be stronger than spending immediately. Affordability answers whether you can upgrade; planning answers whether you should do it now.
What should I update when my building plan changes?
Update current building levels, target level, Fire Crystals, ordinary resources, and construction speedups. A route calculated from old inventory can become misleading after even one major upgrade or event spend.
