Frostfire Expansion · Veins & Scoring
Normal veins keep the score moving. Fresh veins add the patrol opportunity. Outbursts are where you drop the normal routine and squeeze the high-value window for everything it is worth.

Normal mining
A fresh common vein still has its Mine Guard. Beat the guard, collect the scoring opportunity tied to that fight, then occupy the vein. Going back to a vein whose guard has already been cleared can still earn Orichalcum through gathering, but it no longer gives you that same complete patrol-plus-mining loop.
Fresh veins disappear fast in crowded matches. Do not turn “fresh is better” into “I refuse to mine until I find fresh.” A cleared vein earning points is better than a pristine vein that exists only in your imagination.
Vein Outburst
The game warns you before Outbursts appear. Use that warning. When the Outburst window opens, recall marches from ordinary veins and throw your available marches into Outburst veins. At 200 Orichalcum per second, this is not the moment to leave half your marches politely mining normal veins.
Activate the temporary gathering-speed boost so it applies to marches deployed during the active window. This is the payoff we were trying to reach with RRLLR.
Go anyway. The lobby may have starved you of patrol XP, but missing the ideal skill does not make an Outburst a bad scoring window.
Watch for the in-game Outburst warning. The event gives you advance notice before an Outburst begins, so use that warning to get ready to recall your marches. Exact timing can be confusing depending on how you are reading the event timer—follow the warning instead of trying to memorize the clock.
After the Outburst
The map changed while you were busy. Reassess. Fresh patrol-and-vein opportunities may have opened, your old area may have been stripped, or another player may now own the spot you left. Find the best productive option available now—not the one that was best five minutes ago.
