Stop upgrading Hero Gear just because the red dot told you to.

Hero Gear is one of the easiest places to turn months of scarce materials into impressive-looking power that does not solve the problem you actually have. The goal is not to level everything. The goal is to know which stat, which slot, and which hero deserves the next resource.

The short answer

Build your important gear first.

For most developing accounts, serious investment belongs on one primary set for each troop type before it belongs everywhere else. The common starting priority is Infantry Health → Marksman Lethality → Lancer Lethality. That is a framework, not a commandment: Bear-focused players may push Marksman damage harder, while PvP weaknesses can change what deserves the next upgrade.

PRIORITY 1

Infantry Health

Gloves + Belt

Your Infantry are the frontline. Their priority pieces improve Troop Health, helping the line stay alive while the rest of the march works.

PRIORITY 2

Marksman Lethality

Headgear + Boots

Marksmen are a major damage source and especially important for Bear. Their priority pieces improve Troop Lethality.

PRIORITY 3

Lancer Lethality

Headgear + Boots

Lancers also benefit heavily from Lethality, but for most accounts these pieces come after the Infantry and Marksman priorities above.

Four slots. Two different Command stats.

All four pieces still contribute hero stats, so the lower-priority pair is not worthless. The point is resource concentration: scarce Gear XP and especially Essence Stones should create a meaningful advantage before you start smoothing every piece into a pretty, even set.

Enhancement

Gear XP raises the piece.

Enhancement is the regular level progression on the gear. Concentrating XP on the priority pieces creates more useful stats than sprinkling the same materials across a large collection of heroes you rarely march.

Mastery Forging

Essence Stones are the expensive decision.

Mastery Forging uses Essence Stones. Treat them like a strategic resource, not routine maintenance. Your primary Infantry Health and damage-dealer Lethality pieces should have a reason to receive stones before secondary gear does.

The expensive part

Mythic → Legendary changes the resource game.

A Mythic piece can ascend to Legendary after reaching Enhancement Level 100 and Mastery Forging Level 10. The ascension consumes additional Mythic gear, and later Legendary empowerment introduces Mithril alongside still more materials. That is why spare Mythic pieces and Mithril should not be treated as junk simply because you cannot use them today.

Before feeding, reforging, or sacrificing a valuable piece, know what your next progression gate requires. Late-game Hero Gear punishes short-term housekeeping decisions.

Avoid the regret pile

Five Hero Gear mistakes we would rather you skip.

1

Upgrading gear on every hero instead of concentrating scarce materials on the heroes who actually matter.

2

Spending Essence Stones evenly across all four slots just because the upgrade button is available.

3

Sacrificing useful Mythic gear before understanding how much later Legendary progression consumes.

4

Following a screenshot or upgrade chart as an absolute rule without considering what the account is trying to improve.

5

Building for displayed power instead of the Health or Lethality stat the troop type needs most.

Why charts disagree

A chart can give you a route. It cannot see your account.

You will see Infantry-first charts, Marksman-first charts, exact stopping levels, balanced progressions, and aggressive two-piece builds. They are not automatically nonsense. They are often optimizing for different goals.

A player trying to increase Bear damage can reasonably value Marksman Lethality differently from a player trying to survive stronger PvP opponents. A low spender approaching a new hero generation also has a different resource problem than a whale finishing Legendary empowerment. Use a chart to understand priorities — not to outsource every decision.

Hero Gear FAQ

Should I put gear on every hero?

You can equip secondary heroes, especially for Arena, but do not confuse equipping gear with heavily investing in it. Your scarce upgrade resources need priorities.

Should Infantry gear be first?

Infantry Health is the strongest general starting priority because Infantry protect the rest of the formation. A Bear-focused account may choose to push Marksman Lethality more aggressively.

What should Marksmen upgrade first?

Headgear and Boots are the usual priority because their Command stat improves Troop Lethality.

What should Lancers upgrade first?

Headgear and Boots are also the usual Lancer priority for Troop Lethality, generally after the higher-value Infantry and Marksman investments.

Should I save Mithril before I have Legendary gear?

Yes. Mithril becomes a bottleneck during later Legendary Hero Gear empowerment, so having no immediate use for it does not make it disposable.
